Mobilizing Metamorphosis- The Third Generation Mobile Phones

Monday, January 21st, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Keith_Rickwood]Keith Rickwood The 3G Mobile Phones subscribe to a technology called the Third Generation. 3G is a legatee of the 2G technology and can be best described by differences between the two. Launched in Europe in 2003, the Third Generation technology is dedicated to the needs of mobile users. The 3G phones succeed the 2G phones by expediting data transfer. While 2G phones transferred data at about 144 Kilobits per second, the 3G phones are capable of transferring it at a speed of about 380 kilobits per second. This works in the interest of consumers as they save both time and money. The 3G mobile phones provide video calling facility, which the 2G phones could not. This is the hallmark of the technology. Perhaps a person from yesteryears would deem it a product of sorcery. The 3G mobile phones cater to consumers in need of enhanced connectivity and data transfer. This implies that all businessmen and professionals can use this phone to access Internet from their mobile phones at broadband speed. 3G phones operate only in the 3G network. Installation of 3G network requires licensing, which is very expensive. Thus, the use of 3G phones is not ubiquitous. However, with the stupendous abilities of these devices their demand has gone up. This implies that the number of 3G service providers will also go up. There is an abundance of 3G enabled mobile phones in the market. Some of the best known include all of Nokia’s N Series. Sony Ericsson W850i, W950i, K800i et al are also 3G enabled. But, before you buy your own 3G mobile phone remember to enquire your service provider about the availability of compatible network in your work zone. The magical abilities of the 3G technology truly metamorphose mobile phones. Choose the Best Cell Phone Plan

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Eric_Hartwell]Eric Hartwell The optimal time to look for the best cell phone plans is inevitably around the Christmas season. The offers are plentiful and tempting during the festivities and many deals will save you money for years to come. Upgrading your phone is also particularly attractive at this time. If you are looking to change your phone, then this is the time of year to choose. However, not all of us can wait for Christmas. Pressures to change and upgrade a phone mean that we need to look for the best cell phone plan when we have, or feel we have, the need. The benefits of taking charge of a new cell phone together with an upgraded cell phone plan can be had at most times of the year - if only you search around. With some plans, your monthly payment never changes. The standard contract level can cover everything including inclusive minutes each month and some cell phone plans will allow you to have free texts or downloads as part of the monthly contract. The ideal cell phone plan will give a choice of a flat monthly rate for the varying services - this should include monthly minutes of call (at least to local areas) leaving you to be concerned only with the fixed contractual charge. No nasty surprises at the end of the billing month! You need to be aware of the extra potential costs that some cell phone plans have. Peak hour calling can be expensive. This means that you may need to keep a watch over the time of day that you make the majority of your calls. Calling during peak periods with some of these plans can be costly. Some cell phone plans also allow “friends” to be part of a special, lower rate, network. This can sometimes be beneficial but can also be restrictive as your friends may not subscribe to the same network as you. The optimal cell phone plan will give you greater freedom. If you can’t wait till Christmas, and you need a cell phone now, a bit of shopping around will get you the best plan. Creative Knitting - Yarns to Dye For!

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

By Linda Black When you want to knit with a yarn that is totally unique, try dyeing it first. There are two ways of dyeing yarn. One way is with chemical or synthetic dyes, which are quick and easy to use, the other is with natural dyes. The process of using natural dyes takes a little longer but the results are more subtle. Synthetic dyes cover a wider range of colours than natural dyes. They are relatively inexpensive to buy and so, for the beginner, a great way to experiment. It’s important to choose the correct dye for the type of fibres in your yarn. Because synthetic dyes are made from chemicals, the same dye will react differently on yarns of different fibre composition. Natural dyestuffs can be collected from your garden or from the countryside or can be bought as powders from craft shops and chemists. It’s best to dye the more unusual yarns such as cashmere, alpaca or angora, for example. The colours available in standard shop-bought yarns is so wide-ranging that it’s probably not worth the trouble of dyeing these, unless you want to match a very specific shade. Take care when you select the containers for dyeing your yarn. If you use metal dye pots, make sure they won’t rust, as rust spots can ruin your yarn. Stainless steel or enamelled pots are best, as these will not react badly with the chemical dyes or with some of the mordants used for natural dyes. Beware - if spilt, dyes will stain your cooker. If you have one, use an old camping gas stove or portable electric ring for heating up the mixture, just in case! Other tools that you might need when dyeing your yarn:small pan for dissolving chemical dyes (if these are being used)table-spoon for mixinga pair of wooden tongssome smooth wooden sticksweights and scaleshot and cold waterapron and rubber glovesscouring pads (for cleaning the tools after dyeing is complete)clean bowls for rinsing the yarnnotebook and pen (keep notes of yarns dyed and recipes used) Dyeing your own yarn is creative and fun. Web’s Best Weight Loss Article Ever Written - Quick Weight Loss has a New Meaning

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

By Reinhardt Gallowitz So you are one of those people that are looking for a quick weight loss miracle? You are reading this article, because you think that I am going to bestow on you a miracle weight loss treatment and you will be saved from your “obesitized” or overweight life. Well my dear friend, there is no such this as a miracle weight loss drug, but I AM going to point you in the direction of something that will speed up your weight loss like none other. Being overweight is fine for some people, but it’s an horrible feeling when you are self-conscious. The worst thing ever is to suddenly gain a considerable amount of weight and people telling you that you have. Just the thought that others around you constantly think about how fat you became makes one feel extremely self- conscious. You start to feel very ashamed and in most cases of weight gain, depressed. Now, I know you don’t want to be overweight. I am not even going into all the negative effects that being overweight has on your life and body. You know that it’s very bad and it’s all you need to know. In some cases it can lead to death o.k! So what should you do to lose weight? I am going to tell you a secret that nobody else is probably going to tell you about weight loss. All you have to do is follow this article and apply what you learn here and I promise you you will lose weight. You have to follow what I teach you here exactly. If you do, you will reap the benefits. The secret? Here it is…It’s all in your diet. This is the number one thing you should conquer and I promise you that you will lose weight. In a moment I will explain to you very simply what principles you should follow to lose weight quick. Do not go out and buy a stupid book or ebook, because all of them shove you into training and some of them include very bad diet information. I would prefer it if you go out and do cardiovascular training, due to it’s ability to help you lose weight very fast. I will explain what you need to do in the gym or outdoors to achieve this as well. Don’t worry, everything is very easy. The best thing is, is that THIS diet is not really a diet. You will eat like a king!! O.k, so here we go. First up is your diet. The most important thing to a diet is the WAY you diet. You can eat as much celery as you want, but you won’t lose weight. You might lose some weight, but be sure that you will pick up double that weight. Another thing is a balance between proteins, carbohydrates and fat. Don’t worry about counting calories. Very few people do except proffesional fitness people. Don’t worry, I have structured a meal plan for you that contains the right balance or proteins, carbohydrates and fat. You need to structure you diet into 5 meals a day (if you are a women) or 6 meals (if you are a man). This is probably freaking you out now, but please listen and I will explain. If you try to diet by eating nothing, you will gain weight the moment food enters your mouth afterwards. Your body is like a fireplace-oven. It needs to be kept heated the whole time. Feeding the fireplace at the appropriate times will make it function perfectly. The same thing goes for your body. You need to space out meals throughout the day to keep your body in a metabolic state. Remember, your body WANTS to be fed constantly, but you have to give it just the right food. If you don’t eat anything for quite a while and suddenly you eat a lot, your body will think it’s not going to get food the nex time so it will produce fat from the meal you ate. It’s a survival mechanism. Spacing 5-6 small meals throughout your day is the optimal way to keep your body’s metabolic state constant. This way your body will start to burn fat like butter on a flaming hot pan. When I am talking about 5 or 6 meals a day, I am talking about portions the size of both of your hands cupped together (like you’re begging).2 to 3 hours apart between each meals are optimal. I am going to provide you with the most powerful fat burning “good foods” known to mankind. Please don’t try to eat just one of these. You won’t lose weight. You need to combine them. I will explain it later using a predetermined meal plan. Here are the ingredients: *Almonds and other types of nuts *Beans and legumes *Eggs *Extra protein powder *Fat-free or low-fat milk, yogurt & cheese *Instant Oatmeal that is unsweetened and unflavoured *Olive oil *Peanut butter *Rasberries and other berries *Turkey and other lean meats *Whole grain or whole wheat breads and cereals. Please avoid the following foods at all costs: *Margarine *Fried foods especially fast food. *Commercially manufactured baked goods *Any food with partially hydrogenated oil on it’s list of ingredients. *Fatty cuts of red meat *Whole-milk dairy products *Softdrinks *Alcohol - limit your alcohol to a maximum of 2 drinks (beer or red wine) a week. Later we are going to explain to you how to combine the “good food” ingredients to get a incredible quick weight loss fat burning diet. Now we get to what excercises you should be doing. This excercise takes round about 20 minutes. This article covers only cardiovascular excercises. Please remember that muscle burns fat. No other body mechanism burns fat better. I am not saying you should look like a bodybuilder or look muscular, but adding only a little muscle all over your body will dramatically increase your fat burning efforts. Even cardiovascular excersises adds muscle to your body, but not as much or fast as weight training. This doesn’t matter that much, because cardiovascular excersises does increase muscle mass to some extent, especially in your legs, but it doesn’t make you look too muscular. Just nice and toned. Here is a cardiovascular Interval excersise that you need to perform at least once a week, and a maximum of 3 times a week.Do not do them one right after the other. Leave a day or to between. You can do it on a stationary bicycle or treadmill or even outdoor running or cycling. Write it down and use a watch to time yourself. This excercise is fun and quick. Just do it. 4-6 Minutes warmup (To get your heart rate up) 30 Seconds High Intensity (Sharply Increase your speed and/or your resistance) 1 Minute Low Intensity (Decrease speed and/or resistance and keep it constant for the 1 minute) 45 Seconds High Intensity 1 Minute Low intensity 1 Minute High Intensity 1 Minute Low Intensity 90 Seconds High Intensity 1 1/2 Minutes Low Intensity 1 Minute High Intensity 60 Seconds Low Intensity 45 Seconds High Intensity 1 Minute Low Intensity 30 Seconds High Intensity 3-5 Minutes Cool off (Walking it off) …go home. You can change this outlay, but it’s not recommended that you decrease the time spent, nor should you increase it too much in your beginning stages. You can add to it later, but remember to keep your higher intensities shorter than your low intensities with the higher intensities increasing during the workout and finally decrease. O.k. Let’s get to how to combine those “good foods” up there into an effective diet to lose weight very quick. I am going to provide you with a 2 day sample diet routine. You can eat the same one every day, but a little change now and then would help you stay focused with you diet and excercise. QUICK WEIGHT LOSS MEAL PLAN - SAMPLE DAY 1 Breakfast: 1 large egg, 3 egg whites, 2 Slices Whole Wheat toast, 1 slice lean bacon, 1 tomato/green pepper sliced, 1 teaspoon ground flaxseed, half a glass of orange juice.Scramble whole egg and whites and add flaxeed. Fry in a pan that’s sprayed with vegetable oil,if you don’t have just fry it in a non stick pan. Put everything on your toast. Add your bacon and tamatoes or any other vegetable. Snack: 1 bowl High fiber cereal or Oatmeal cereal Lunch: Add the following foods to make a sandwich - 2 slices whole wheat bread. 2 ounces(56 grams) sliced roast beef, 2 leaves lettuce(washed obviously), teaspoon of low fat mayonnaise and 1 ounce(28 grams) of fat-free cheese. Snack: 1 ounce(28grams) Raisins and 1 ounce Almonds. Please note!!! NO SALTED NUTS! Dinner: 4-5 Ounces(113-142grams) Tendered Chicken Breasts; 2,25 ounces(63grams) cooked “whole wheat” spaghetti with a cup of spaghetti sauce; 1/2 teaspoon flour; 1 tablespoons water; 1 teaspoon olive oil; 1 tablespoon chilly powder; 1/8 onion finely chopped.Heat the oil in a nonstick pan. Add chopped onion and cook it for about 1 minute until it’s brownish.Mix the flour and water in a small bowl (The amount of water and flour can be adjusted. The examples above was scaled down to provide one serving.) Additional water and flour may be required to make the flour-water mixture just right.)Add your chicken, the chilli powder, sauce and the flour mixture all to the pan. Stir it. Let it simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes. Serve it over your cooked spaghetti (you should cook the spaghetti seperately). Snack: Smoothie - 1 banana, 1/2 cup 1% milk, 1/2 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt, 1/8 cup frozen orange juice concentrate,2 teaspoons whey powder, 8 crushed Ice Cubes. There is one thing about this quick weight loss diet that is really cool. You are allowed to cheat on one of your meals only ONCE a week. Preferably at lunch OR dinner.Lets say you ate correctly the whole week, Saturday comes and you feel like you want to order a pizza and drink a beer.Go ahead, order that pizza and drink that beer (limited to 2). Now remember to start your diet the next day and continue for the week until the next cheat meal. Do you know why you can cheat on a meal? This is precisely the opposite thing your body does in respect of the previous situation where you if you eat too less and suddenly ate a lot, your body will gain/store fat due to the surviving mechanism. If your body is at a constant metabolic rate during the weak and you suddenly eat a cheat meal, your body will want to reject the unhealthy fat. In the same process your body will burn even more fat and lose weight quicker, because it needs to stabilize it’s metabolic rate which was increased because of the cheat meal. QUICK WEIGHT LOSS MEAL PLAN - SAMPLE DAY 2 Breakfast: 1 whole wheat pita halfed to make to halfs (You can substitute the pita for whole wheat toast if you want to.); 1 & a half teaspoons low-fat cream cheese; 2 Slices ham or turkey; Some lettuce.Stack up the lot and make yourself a sandwich. Snack: 1 & 1/2 cup berries; 3 Slices deli roast beef Lunch: 1 can of Tuna in salt water; 1 Onion chopped to small pieces; 3 tablespoons of Low-fat mayonnaise; half a lemon; 2 teaspoons Olive Oil; half a cup on low fat cottage cheese; 2 slices whole wheat toast.Switch on your oven at 220′c. Add the tuna, mayonnaise and the low fat cottage cheese to a bowl. Mix it together and squeeze the lemon juice into the mixture. Layer a non stick glass flat bed oven bowl/tray with the Olive Oil; Add the chopped onion to the tray and put into the oven until onion is brownish. Take out the tray and add the tuna mixture to the tray.Put it back into the oven. Bake it for about 10-15 minutes ( or YOU can decide to take it out of the oven.) Put the mixture on your whole wheat toast. Snack: 1 ounce Raisins and 1 ounce Almonds Dinner: 3 ounces(85 Grams) lean sirloin steak; 1/4 cup Hunan stir-fry sauce; 1 cup COOKED BROWN rice; 1/4 cup chopped broccoli; 1/2 a Jalapeno pepper sliced; 1/2 a cayenne pepper sliced; 1/2 carrot sliced; 1 teaspoon olive oil.Heat the olive oil in a non stick pan over high heat. Throw in the sliced carrot and brocolli and cook until tender. Add your peppers and steak and continue cooking until the meat is done. Add the sauce and serve everything over the cooked rice (The rice should be cooked seperately). Snack: A smoothy - 1/2 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt, 1 cup 1% milk, 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, 2 teaspoons peanut butter, 2 teaspoons protein whey powder, 8 Crushed Ice Cubes. O.K so remember the rules you learned here. Tip 1 - Make sure you eat 5-6 meals a day spaced out 2 to 3 hours apart. Tip 2 - Try substituting your snacks with smoothies. Tip 3 - Use the “fat burning food” ingredients above as a basis for all your meal decisions Tip 4 - Drink the right beverages. Try to stay away from alcohol and sodas Tip 5*- Drink 8 glasses of water a day (VERY important factor in weight loss - PLEASE trust me with this one. Just do it!) Tip 6 - Have a cheat meal once a weak, not a fat buffet - Remember to control yourself. Don’t go overboard. Tip 7 - Go to the gym 3 times a week and do your interval session as described above. Go at least once if you can’t 3. Now you know exactly what to do to lose weight quick. If you apply what you learned here today you will lose weight very quick. Container Flower Gardening

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

By Ricky Lim Most people think that planting their own flower garden is difficult. Well if you learn how to do container flower gardening right, it does not have to be time consuming and difficult. It can be pleasant and an enjoyable experience. Container flower gardening allows you to express your own creativity with the choice of flowers you like and the type of container you want. With some learning and experience, anyone can put together a beautiful flower gardening container which you can then put on your patio or balcony. First Step To Container Flower Gardening The first step to container flower gardening is of course deciding the type of container to use. In order to determine which container you want to use, you need to decide where you are going to hang your container flower garden. Common types includes pots, hanging basket and window box. You then need to decide the material of the flower container. Common types include ceramic pots which are easily available and wooden barrels. Other types include plastic or terra cotta flower containers. Regardless of which type of container you choose, make sure there is sufficient drainage to avoid over watering. The correct flower container can make it a lot simpler and easier to grow flower gardens. Second Step To Container Flower Gardening The next step is to choose the soil for your flowers. I recommend a high quality potting soil preferably with vermiculite added. This will ensure good proper drainage and maintains the moisture levels needed for the flowers. For planting young flowers in the container, I recommend to use granular fertilizer as it can help to grow the young flowers better. Third Step To Container Flower Gardening The last step is of course the flowers. I recommend to use varying heights and colors of different flowers to add depth and contrast. Do not be afraid to experiment since you are the designer and its up to you how you want the flowers to be arranged. There are also other factors when growing your flower container such as the amount of sunlight it needs as well as how often to water the flowers. Container flower gardening is simple and easy to do and is a suitable hobby for everyone who lives in homes which have limited space. Ricky Lim is the online editor of a container gardening site. Ethics and Morality - Right and Wrong

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

By David Hulme According to one author, we’ve seriously lost our way. He says we are like men adrift at sea without a compass. Many of us know this, and realize something has gone terribly wrong, but what to do about it evades us. As a result, ethical and moral dilemmas plague us as we look ahead to the 21st century. Is there any way to know the difference between right and wrong? Does religion have anything left to offer? From time to time we hear that the established churches are in confusionthat too often their leaders have nothing to say that’s practical and helpful. Where does the truth on these matters lie? Back in the days just before the Second World War, things were different. The Western world was dominated by a particular value system. In a book titled 1938: A World Vanishing, Brian Cleeve wrote about the difference between Britain as it was entering the war and the way it had become about 50 years later. He said: There really was, as nostalgia remembers, an air of greater contentment of a sturdier confidence in the future. [People] had a greater stock of moral certainties. Right and wrong were not matters for debate. Since then much has changed, of course. Now right and wrong are matters for debate. The end of the Second World War was a turning point. And while the morality of the ’30s was not perfect, Cleeve noted that to exchange a false morality for no morality at all is not necessarily an exchange for the better. And if, as a survivor of pre-war years, I were to offer an opinion as to one difference between then and now that is for the worse, I would have to choose morality…. the morality of believing that there are real and objective standards of behavior, that there are such things as virtues, and such things as vices; that certain things are unarguably good, and others unarguably bad. What has happened in contemporary Western society is the promotion of democratic ideas beyond reason. It’s often been noted that democracy carries within itself the seeds of its own destruction. In our modern eagerness to be tolerant, Cleeve stated, we have come to tolerate things which no society can tolerate and remain healthy. In our understandable anxiety not to set ourselves up as judges, we have come to believe that all judgments are wrong. In our revulsion against hypocrisy and false morality we have abandoned morality itself. And with modest hesitations but firm convictions I submit that this has not made us happier, but much unhappier. We are like men at sea without a compass. He continued: In 1938 in Britain the average man and woman still possessed a keen notion of what was right and what was wrong, in his and her own personal life, in the community, and in the world at large. When the war was finally begun it was clearlyand rightlyseen as a moral war by the ordinary people who were being called on to risk their lives in it. Has the time arrived again when ordinary people must make moral standards a personal crusade? Has the time come to stand up and be counted for the difference between right and wrong? We all know what’s been going on around the world. Our leaders have been unable to stem the flow of violence, the corruption and the many evils of modern life. Why? Could it be that the answers do not lie with leadersthat they are found somewhere else, such as in the realm of personal responsibility? There was a time in the Western world when we could recite the Ten Commandments. They were taught in school. There was a time when our parents led the way in disciplining us for bad behavior. Much of our morality was based on the Book of books, the Bible. Sadly, today it’s thought by many to be no more than a piece of great literature. Its important to understand the Bible’s practical relevance to today’s moral dilemmas. It is believed that in its pages, God has revealed the way that leads to true success and happiness in human society. How to Buy Perfume

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

By Andrew Gates Shopping for perfumes or personal fragrances can be a daunting task, particularly if it’s for a friend or lover. Obviously online at Myshopping.com.au you cannot compare the actual scent of different fragrances. But, once you have a fairly good idea of what you are looking for, you can compare the different offerings from different brands and vendors very easily. So, how do you know what you are looking for? The following simple steps will narrow the search down somewhat. The fragrance must suit the personality The essential oils of a perfume react differently with each different person. Some perfumes are more suited to some personalities than others, and some perfumes are gregarious, others are more reserved. Your choice needs to suit the wearer’s attitude as well as demeanour, as well as reflect the status of your relationship with the wearer. For example, you wouldn’t buy the same fragrance for your mother as you would for a recently acquired girlfriend. There are six different categories of scent that express different moods. If you know the favourite brand of the person you are buying for, a scent in the same family, or one in a complimentary family will be a reasonably safe purchase. Floral. This is the largest and most popular category and is created mainly from flowers, including rose, carnation, orange blossom, gardenia and jasmine. These are often blended together to produce a distinctive floral bouquet. Some popular examples in this category include Clinique Aromatics Elixir, Ralph Lauren Romance and Yves St. Laurent Paris. Citrus. Fragrances in this group come from citrus fruits such as lime, lemon, tangerine and mandarin. These fragrances project a sharp, tangy aura, which are naturally refreshing and uplifting. Citrus blends are among the oldest known scents. They were first worn by men and are now popular with women as well. Some popular examples include Calvin Klein CK One, Gucci Gucci and Jessica McClintock Jess. Chypre (Cyprus). This is a woody fragrance created by French perfumer Francois Coty, based on his impression of the island of Cyprus. The fragrance is dominated by pine aromas with hints of bergamot, oak moss, citrus and patchouli providing an earthy suite of aromas. Some popular examples include Dior Miss Dior, Hermes Caleche, and Cindy Adams Gossip. Oriental. Oriental fragrances are a heady mix of spices, amber, balsams and resins suggesting warmth and exotic sensuality, and are popular for evening wear. Some examples include Calvin Klein Obsession, Yves St. Laurent Opium and Five Star Royal Secret. Green. Green fragrances are fresh and alive aromas, with a hint of sharpness from young grassy scents blended with pine, juniper, leaves and herbs to create memorable perfumes. They reflect sporty personalities and most suited to daytime wear. Popular examples include Cartier So Pretty, Ralph Lauren Safari and Hanae Mori Haute Couture. Fougere. This sixth category is a combination of fresh herbs and mossy ferns blended in to produce a sophisticated urban style, with earthy overtures. Some popular examples include Elizabeth Arden Blue Grass, Perry Ellis Reserve, and Davidoff Cool Water. Seasons and Strengths The choice of fragrance that one wears is often affected by season and event. Summer calls for cooler lighter fragrances, whereas winter might suggest more intimate and warmer aromas. Spring is the return of freshness, and autumn is a period of subtlety. Daywear and a choice for everyday work calls for a different perfume to an evening out. An intimate dinner might suggest a different aroma to a family get-together. When you are buying perfume for someone, consider when he or she might wear your choice. The other consideration is the relative strengths of the essential oils, and the amount they are diluted. There are four different categories according to the strength of the oils. Eau de parfum is the strongest concentration and typically contains 15 - 22 percent essential oils. Eau de toilette has a typical concentration of 8 to 15 percent essential oils. Eau de cologne (or Cologne) has a concentration of 4 to 8 percent of essential oils. Eau fraiche is the most diluted of scent with just 1 to 3 percent concentration of essential oils. The degree of concentration often suggests the size of the bottle and its price point. A larger portion will cost less per millilitre, but even small quantities of popular choices can cost a lot of money. This is where making comparisons with Myshopping.com.au can really pay off. The standard fragrance size bottles are usually in the 50ml, 75ml, 100ml or 125ml range. You can buy what is commonly known as a trial size, and this is a good choice if you are experimenting with new fragrances or just want a choice for travelling. These are usually 25ml to 40ml. Finally, a collector’s size that is commonly known as a miniature bottle might be 7ml or 10ml Trials and Testing It is common practice when buying a perfume is to visit the fragrance counter and spray different scents on different parts of your body so you can compare them. We suggest you avoid this because after two or three applications your olfactory responses (that’s your smell and taste senses) can easily be confused and your brain will be remembering and blending previous sniffs rather than sampling new ones. Secondly, how are you going to remember which you sprayed where. If you are going live shopping, we suggest you do something more like this. Use fragrance blotters to gather your samples of different scents. These are small porous cards and are usually available at the perfume counter. Once you’ve sprayed the card you can write the name of the fragrance on the reverse side, that way you can identify the fragrance when you need to, and you can more readily compare the different aromas. All fragrances take a few minutes to develop once they’ve been exposed to the atmosphere. Allow a few little time after it’s been applied before sniffing the fragrance. To overcome nose fatigue (confusion of the olfactory), leave the smelling alone for a while and take in some fresh air, or smell something that carries your own body odour (armpit of your shirt sleeve for example). Sometimes eating a mint can refresh your olfactory senses. Try to narrow your selection to two or three fragrances and then spray some on your skin, making a point to remember what you sprayed where. Now you need to go and do something else. You need to remove yourself from the perfumery (too many other smells in the air) and take your mind off the fragrance shopping altogether. Let ten or fifteen minutes go by and then smell those parts of your skin that you sprayed. Let your gut reaction tell you which is the most effective, relative to the reason you are buying the fragrance. Then go to Myshopping.com.au and find that fragrance and compare prices and vendors. Collecting Disneyana-A Niche for Everyone

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

By Xavier Gallery Disney entertainment has been part of the American lifestyle since 1923. During this time it has captured the hearts of millions of fans across the world. This love affair with Disney has spawned a large group of Disney memorabilia collectors. As the hobby has blossomed into a number of different channels, the term Disneyana has evolved to describe all types of Disney collectibles. This massive world of memorabilia has led to collectors specializing in targeted niches of Disneyana in order to succeed at building their collections. After all, with so many items to choose from, it is hard enough to make a dent in even one of the categories. Even with specialization, the Disney collectible market still seems to center around a few popular categories. The largest three are vintage Disneyana, Disney pins, and Disney figurines. Vintage Disneyana is comprised of collectible pieces that were produced and distributed prior to the 1966 death of Walt Disney. Vintage Disneyana collectors are often known as hardcore purists who shun Disney works created after 1966. While this may or may not be accurate, these collectors are typically very knowledgeable in their trade. This knowledge is important since collectibles in this time period are much rarer and can command significant prices. Because the market for these pieces is so competitive, it is harder to find deals and uncovered treasures. Nonetheless, the vintage Disney collector is always active in his pursuit of the next great piece. This is a task that has become more accessible with the development of internet auction sites. Collecting Disney pins is one of the fastest growing hobbies anywhere. While pins have been available at Disney theme parks for years, the hobby ultimately took off in 1999 when pin trading stations were introduced at the theme parks. The interactive element of pin trading has propelled Disney pins to one of the most recognized collectibles in the world. Websites and clubs have sprung up all over the internet, and special pin trading events can be found in nearly every major city. Special edition pins and limited edition collections have turned into hot sellers in the aftermarket. The escalation of aftermarket prices, combined with the accessibility of entry-level pins, insures that Disney pin trading will be around for a long time. Disney figurine collecting is another category of Disney memorabilia that has reached extraordinary levels of membership. Usually made of porcelain, Disney figurines have an average height of only six inches, but their appeal can be measured in the millions. Each figurine is released in a special lot with limited production for each piece. Knowledgeable collectors examine the issue date, production markings, and market availability when determining the value of a piece. Similar to Disney pins, limited edition models and anniversary collections hold the most value on the aftermarket. Though some collectors profit handsomely from reselling pieces, there is a large contingent of the Disney figurine community that collect for their own enjoyment. In short, collecting Disneyana is a hobby that offers something for all age groups and budgets. While there is always a segment of each niche that is expensive, most Disney product lines do offer affordability with their new releases. This is important as it allows new collectors to join the hobby and solidify its growth in the future. As with any hobby, it is the fun of building your collection that fuels the passion. The Disney name and sheer popularity of their characters only add to the allure of Disneyana, and it is safe to say that the market for Disney memorabilia will continue to grow. Relationships: Conflict Resolution Without Words

Monday, January 7th, 2008

By Margaret Paul, Ph.D. In the last few decades, partners have spent countless hours trying to work out problems. Yet over and over again they often come up against a major roadblock: they just dont see things the same way. No matter how long they talk and how hard they try, neither ends up feeling really heard and understood. While there are some couples that just naturally see things the same way, most people have a really hard time seeing things through the other persons eyes. What often happens when they communicate is that each person tries to get the other person to see things his or her way. Instead of solving the problem, each is trying to have control over how the other person sees things. This often leads to more conflict and frustration. While I am not suggesting that couples stop communicating over problems and issues, I am offering an additional way of resolving conflict: taking loving action in your own behalf. This form of conflict resolution is about action rather than talk. Following are some of the actions you can take that may make a world of difference in your relationship. LOVING ACTIONS 1. Choose to be compassionate toward yourself and your partner rather than choosing to judge yourself or your partner. Judging yourself and your partner will always lead to more conflict. Choosing to compassionately care about yourself and your partner can totally change the energy between you, even without words. If you believe that you or your partner are bad or wrong for your feelings, behavior, or point of view, then you will not be able to let go of judgment. You will move toward compassion when you understand and accept that each of you has very good reasons for your feelings, behavior, and point of view. Try compassionately accepting yourself and your partner and see what happens! 2. Choose to practice self-discipline in terms of saying nothing rather than behaving in an inflammatory way toward your partner. Practice zipping up your mouth! Practice letting go of having to be right! Practice walking away from a conflicted or heated situation, rather than jumping into the fray in the hopes of winning. If you look back, you will see that no one wins when both people are trying to control with anger, blame, explanations, debating, defending, lectures, or compliance. However, if you choose to walk away, walk away with love and compassion intent on taking loving care of yourself rather than punishing your partner. Walking away in anger is just another way to control. 3. Choose to accept that you have no control over your partners feelings and behavior, but that you have total control over your own actions. It is much easier to let go of trying to control your partner when you move into acceptance regarding who your partner is. Trying to change your partner is a total waste of energy. Changing yourself moves you into personal power. 4. Choose to take loving care of yourself in the face of the other persons choices. You will find yourself wanting to talk about problems when you see yourself as a victim of your partners choices. However, when you accept your partner for who he or she is and accept your lack of control over your partner, you can then see your way clear toward taking loving action in your own behalf. Asking the question, What is the loving action toward myself right now? will lead to ideas of how to take loving care of your self. Asking, If I were an enlightened being, how would I be acting right now? will open the door to creative ways of taking loving care of yourself. Loving actions are actions that support your own highest good without harming your partner. For example, if you are tired of often being frustrated and rushed because your partner is generally late leaving for an event, you might decide to take your own car each time your partner is not ready on time. While your partner might not like your choice, your action is not harmful to him or her. It is an action that stops the power struggle and takes care of your self. Letting go of trying to change your partner and taking loving action for your self are the keys to conflict resolution without words. Cori’s Creations - Salmon Burger Atop Veggies

Friday, January 4th, 2008

By Cori Swidorsky Theres nothing more fun then being creative with food and eating healthy at the same time. I had bought frozen salmon burgers to just keep in the freezer for a quick, easy meal. An easy way to eat a salmon burger is to eat it like a regular hamburger, but since I like to get creative, I experimented a little. You can either buy the frozen salmon burgers or you can make your own. I havent attempted that yet but plan on it. Im not that crazy about the frozen ones, could be the brand though. Ok on to creating… (serving based on 1 person)… Now the veggies can be switched if you dont like something you can replace it with something else or just leave it out. 1 salmon burger sliced onion ( use as much or little as you like) half a red pepper sliced in long thin pieces half a yellow pepper sliced in long thin pieces about a cup of broccoli shredded mozzarella grated parmesan cheese Olive oil In a small pan cook the salmon burger. After its cooked take off the heat and sprinkle some shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Then cover the pan for a few minutes so the cheese melts on top of it. In another pan heat some olive oil on medium heat. Put in sliced onions, peppers and broccoli and saut. Pour a little more olive oil on so it doesnt seem dry. I add a little bit of salt for flavor, you can use no salt or any other seasoning to your liking. Keep mixing the veggies so they dont burn, and cook for about 5 to 8 minutes. I like the veggies a little crunchy with the salmon burger so I dont cook them too long. Spread veggies on a plate, put a little more olive oil over them and then sprinkle some parmesan cheese on top. Place the salmon burger on top of the veggies and dig in! You get your protein with the salmon burger, your carbohydrates with your veggies, protein and fat with the cheeses and more healthy fat with the olive oil. Its a well rounded meal; satisfying, healthy and delicious. What better way to change your style of eating to a more healthy way then to be creative, enjoy experimenting. Smile your way into a better eating style for yourself. Cori Sachais Swidorsky Cori_informingwomen@msn.com http://www.informingwomen.com I Reside in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
