Choosing a Business Cell Phone and Plan Quick and Dirty

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Philip_Liu]Philip Liu Are you frustrated with all the choices you have to make when choosing a business cell phone and service plan? It doesn’t have to be complicated. Assuming you aren’t looking for the latest ubergizmo cell phone, the following three steps are all you need to help you pick the cell phone that’s right for your business. Step One: Figure Out the Cell Phone Coverage You Need Step one involves figuring out where you are going to be using your new cell phone. Do you work in the city or the country? Also, do you often travel aboard and intend to use your phone around the world? If you work primarily in US metropolitan areas, you don’t have to worry about whether you need a GSM, CDMA or TDMA phone–they all work pretty well. On the other hand, if you work in rural, remote or undeveloped areas, your best bet is a CDMA or TDMA phone since these providers have the best coverage in rural/undeveloped areas. CDMA and TDMA providers include Verizon Wireless and Sprint-Nextel. On the other hand, if you intend to use your cell phone while abroad, GSM is the communications standard used outside of North America. If you purchase a GSM phone so that you can use it abroad, you need to make sure the phone is purchased “unlocked”, which means that the phone is not tied to a specific network. With an unlocked GSM cell phone, you can easily swap out the SIM card (a white chip usually behind the battery) with local country, prepaid SIM cards to avoid expensive roaming charges. These local country SIM cards are often available in corner stores in most countries. In the US, GSM providers include Cingular and T-Mobile. Step Two: Figure Out the Cell Phone Rate Plan You Need Once you’ve figured out where you are going to be primarily using your new cell phone, the next step is to figure out what business rate plan is the most economical for your needs. Most providers offer different plans based around buckets of minutes that are allocated between different time periods in a day and/or week. If you are going to be using the phone primarily during the day, you’ll need a plan that will give you the maximum number of minutes when the sun is up. On the other hand, if you are going to be using your new cell phone primarily on the weekends, you’ll need a plan that gives you the maximimum number of minutes on Saturday and Sunday. Those are the two extremes–other plans offer some combination of weekday daytime, evenings and weekend minutes. If you are unsure of your calling patterns, take advantage of the free first-month promotions offered by many providers to figure out when you make your calls and then switch your plan accordingly if necessary. Many phone companies will analyze your cell phone usage if asked to and will recommend a plan that minimizes your monthly cost. Step Three: Buy Your New Cell Phone If you are going to be buying a GSM phone because you intend to travel and use the phone abroad, stick to tri-band/tri-mode phones. These phones can operate on a multitude of frequencies that various operators abroad may use. Otherwise, don’t worry about whether the phone is tri-band/tri-mode or dual-mode. Other than that one consideration, choosing a cell phone is all a matter of taste. Generally speaking, if you enter into a one-year or two-year contract, the phone provider will often give away a cell phone that would otherwise cost many hundreds of dollars. That’s usually your best bet but be careful of early-termination clauses that can impose a penalty of $200 or more. (c) 2005 Philip Liu - All rights reserved worldwide. Teaching Moments - Quickest Way To Success

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By John Bishop Every so often you read something that hits you smack in the face. The concept you just read about is one of those thats so easy why didnt I think of it moments. I was reading Paula Benners excellent book, Benjamin Franklins Art of Virtue Journal and had just that type of reaction. Ben Franklin was the 15th child of a poor family, and had only three years of formal training, yet he overcame many potential obstacles to his success. He lived from 1706 1790 and during his 84 years he became an author, publisher, inventor of the lightning rod and the Franklin stove, one of Americas Founding Fathers, signed the Declaration of Independence, and was the United States Ambassador to France. He was a life long learner and taught himself five languages and could play several musical instruments. Ben Franklin started every day off looking for things he could do to help others. He focused doing good by asking two questions every day. In the morning: What good can I do today? Before bed: What good did I do today? Wow! So simple yet so powerful. Ever heard the old adage give to others and it will come back to you ten fold. History suggests that the adage came true for Mr. Franklin. I would strongly recommend learning more about how Ben Franklin lived his life. It may have been over two hundred years ago, but his personal character traits are as important today as they were then. Some would suggest that those traits are even more important today. The Tell-Taler’s Bible

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

By Tracey Wilson The Bible is the cornerstone of Western Civilization. In its two testaments, it stands as law and scripture for two of the great religions of the world. And it shares with a third, the Muslim faith, several of its significant figures and stories. The Bible actually extends beyond the realm of religion. It has had immeasurable impact as a work of literature, and on our culture as a whole. It has shaped our ideas of the meaning of life: hope and despair, love and hate, loyalty and betrayal, and good and evil. How did the Bible make such an impact? The stories in the Bible emerged from ancient and oral traditions. The prophets and Holy Men who roamed the Middle East were seeking the truth and preaching Gods word, as they perceived it. The stories were passed on from generation to generation. In the case of the Old Testament, the stories were passed on as tale- tellers centuries before the Phoenicians invented writing. Each tale- teller would find a child of about eleven-thirteen, and start telling them the stories to memorize, therefore being able to continue the tradition and keep the stories alive. In listening or reading these captivating stories, we learn about the many key players in world history, in which Moses is one of the main characters. Hes mostly known as the man who received the Ten Commandments, twice from God. The first time he came down from the mountain with the tablets, he saw his people worshipping a golden false idol, which they had made. In his anger he threw down the tablets shattering them into pieces. There are more books about Moses than anyone except Jesus. After forty years of leading his rebellious people through the desert, they finally came to their destination. However, God would not allow Moses to cross the Jordan with his people. Creation stories have been a central feature of different cultures world- wide. The stories in Genesis have much in common with the origin myths of other cultures. In one ancient Egyptian myth, the God, Khum makes humans out of clay, and then breathes life into them. This is similar to the story of creation in the Bible that says, God formed man out of the earth itself and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. The big difference between the early stories of Genesis and the creation myths of most other ancient cultures prior to the birth of Judaism, is most people believed in a whole group of Gods. But in the Bible there is only one Almighty God in charge of the heavens and the earth, and everything in-between, on and under. We are also told in the Ten Commandments, Thou shall have no other Gods before me. In every culture, in every time, man has trusted to capture the face of the Almighty. We dont know if anyone has gotten close, but the image of God introduced in the first chapters of Genesis remains incredibly vivid even in this day and age. The first eleven chapters of the book of Genesis, which includes the stories of creation and the flood, deal with mankind in general. The remaining chapters talk about a single people, the Israelites, and the great patriarchs of the culture. The first of these patriarchs is Abraham. In the story of Abraham, we learn about a mans need for faith, and Gods expectation of sacrifice through his story and others like it. We learn our faith is what allows us to endure our sacrifices. At 99 years old, Abraham does not have any children, as his wife Sarah cannot have children. But he continues to talk to God and take God at his word that, Kings shall come out of him. Later, when Gods promise begets Abraham a son, God calls upon Abraham to make the greatest sacrifice of all. The son he has waited for, for so long is to be delivered to God as a sacrifice. Abraham does not hesitate. He walks with his son to the alter where he lays him upon it; as he raises his hand to slay his son, God has mercy and stays his hand. For Abrahams obedience, he is rewarded. In the Old Testament, we read of Gods temperament and mercy. Later in the book of Genesis, God is grieved by the wickedness of humans in general. And for a moment at least, He is sorry that he has even made them. But he finds one righteous man Noah and decides to spare him. After the flood, God vows that He will never again curse the ground for mans sake, even though the imagination of mans heart is evil from his youth. Perhaps Psalm 103, describes God the best: The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. He will not always strive with us, nor will he keep His anger forever. Tips On Creating Bridal Shower Invitations

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

By Lyne Doxley So youve decided to go the route of making your own shower invitations. This says several things: that you want them to be unique, you want them to be memorable, and you want them to say something about you and your betrothed that perhaps cant be said any other way. Well, here are a few tips on creating bridal shower invitations that will help you achieve all of the above and more. Read on to find out more. Ribbons & Lace Nothing says romance like ribbons and lace on your shower invitations. To get the look you want, buy several yards of a variety of both ribbon and lace, a hot-glue gun, andexperiment! Be sure to keep in mind that you will be incorporating your ribbons and lace with the lettering and any artwork you may be adding. In fact, sketching these major elements in first and then working the ribbons/lace around that would be the smartest way to approach the project. Give yourself plenty of time. This could take a while! Lettering Doing the lettering on your own shower invitations turns them into much more than the average invitation! They then become a cherished keepsake that can be handed down to generations. And just think how impressive they will be to your friends and family! Learning the art of calligraphy takes time, patience, and practice, practice, practice. Dont expect to pick it up over a weekend. If you intend to use calligraphy for lettering your invitations, look for a class held at your local community college or from an individual offering them. One things for sure to pay a professional to hand-letter your invitations, you will be looking at mucho dinero, so its well worth the effort to learn this graceful art of beautiful handwriting yourself. And besides, you may be able to use it many more times in the future for other types of projects like Christmas cards, certificates, posters you name it. Proofreading Your Handiwork Whether you hand-letter your do-it-yourself shower invitations or print them off on your computer, always, always proofread them! Theres little more embarrassing than sending out 50 invitations and then realizing youve left off the address. Or the time. Or the date. So take the time to look once, then twice to make sure youve not left any important information off them or that you havent misspelled something. Add the Correct Postage Once youve gotten all your shower invitations perfect and ready to go, for heavens sake make sure you put the correct amount of postage on them! Its easy to misjudge when you have the extra weight of decorations added to the cards, so dont judge by size of the envelopes alone. The best way to make sure youve got appropriate postage on them is to take them to the post office and have them weighed, and then send them from there. That way youre sure to not have any surprise returned mail in your box along with the expense of having to re-do another envelope to be sent out. These are just a few things to think about when deciding on doing your own shower invitations. For a good way to come up with even more ideas, brainstorm with friends and family, go online and check out a few bridal shower forums, and visit your local library. By doing your homework, giving yourself plenty of time, and exchanging thoughts on the subject with other people as interested as you are, youre sure to come up with some terrific ideas! Simple Love Spells

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

By Samantha Stevens Here are some very simple rituals, some old, and some new that might help you achieve your romantic intentions. A bouquet of roses set in the southwestern corner of your bedroom is thought to attract love. To prevent a lover from straying, light a green candle to St. Martha and ask her to keep him faithful to you. To find out if your lover will stay with you, cut an apple in half and offer him or her the other half. If he or she accepts the apple, he or she will be with you a long time. Feed your lover a fig, with your initials carved lightly into it, to keep him or her faithful. Select the following cards from a Tarot Deck - The King of Cups, the Queen of Cups, the Ace of Cups and the Lovers. Fan these cards around a pink candle and light it. Keep these cards spread out in this configuration for a period of seven days. This is an affirmation of your romantic intention to find or keep a lover or soulmate. Procure a lock of your lover’s hair and twist it with a lock of your own in a clockwise direction nine times. Tie both ends with red thread and place in a safe place, such as a locket. Carry this in your pocket. To have him or her think or dream of you more often, anoint the corners of a photograph with orange and rose oil and place the photograph under your pillow. To attract a new lover, light a red candle to St. Barbara and ask her to make you attractive to your soulmate. To keep you on your lover’s mind, do this after each time you part ways. Strike a match on the heel of your shoe and say “Be True.” To bless your marriage and keep him faithful, serve him cooked cabbage on the new moon of every month. Burn a pink candle, carved with both of your initials inside of your heart, along with the planetary symbol of Venus, to draw your lover to you. Serving your spouse rhubarb pie on a full moon will keep him faithful. To ensure that a relationship will last, fill a glass with water. Let him or her take a sip of it and then take a sip of it yourself. Then purposefully drop it so that it breaks. Collect the shards and bury it in the backyard. Carry a rose quartz as a love talisman to draw love to you. To arouse lust in a partner, scratch his or her name into the side of a red candle, anoint it lightly with olive oil and light it. To find out how many more months a troubled relationship has left, cook some kidney beans. Place what you think is an equal amount of beans on your plate and then on his. Count the beans on each plate. The difference in the number of beans you have on each plate tells how many months you have left to work things out. Wear copper jewelery, the favorite metal of Venus, to encourage loving vibrations around you. To have him or her think of nobody but you, take two separate photographs, one of you and one of him and sandwich them with faces against each other. Bind this together with pink and red ribbon and keep in a safe, secret place. To keep a man faithful, anoint his photograph with oil that has been soaked for three days in rosemary leaves. Rosemary assures the dominance of the female in the relationship. To encourage a proposal serve your lover a bowl filled with seven strawberries covered with cream. Make Learning More Meaningful

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

By Dipankar Maibam When a child knows that a pen is for writing, she holds it and draws anything with the pen. May be the things she draw does not have any meaning to us all but what she tries to do is something sincere. She tries to create something of her own. But it is only her lack of hand and eye coordination which makes her fail. But as she gets older she learns the trick of writing. I am amused at how we tend to learn things without any instruction from the very beginning of our life. But education is something totally different. In our childhood we are instructed on how to read certain drawings like A, B, C and 1, 2, 3 etc. and how we should pronounce it. Then comes a stage when we are into doing complex things. We are told this is the right way to do it and that is the wrong way to do that. And we feel like Who the hell are these guys to decide what is right and what is not? What I feel is that we need to be practical in approaching education. As in our childhood we learn by ourselves through mistakes in later years we too should be given the chance to learn by ourselves. How many theories did Einstein, Newton or Aryabhatta founded? And how many of them do we apply in life? These theories are good for increasing general knowledge but beyond that point it is useless to know these things. We have to learn what, how, when, why of things thousands of guys discovered or invented during their lifetime in a year. After that we have to write an exam for 2/3 hours and the examiners check the papers in 5 minutes or so. But the most intriguing fact is that the examiners decide marks/grade within a second. I say it is time to change the education system. There should be no marking or grading system. If someone wants to study let him study but without any marking system. It has been the root cause of all the problems related to education. (Recently a girl with 90+ % of marks in CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) could not get through to a college of her like in Delhi University). I wonder whether she would be demoralized or motivated to work harder. Dipankar Maibam is an independent writer from India. Home Equity Loan Refinancing Activity Reaches 15 year High: Second Mortgage News

Monday, February 18th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ambrose_Dan]Ambrose Dan Applications for home equity loan refinancing have reached a 15 year high. According to Freddie Mac, “88% of homeowners who refinance their homes in the 1st quarter got a mortgage at least 5% larger than their first loan.” This was the highest loan application increase since 1990. Interest rates are going up, so you would think that people who be taking out loans at a slower pace. To some degree that is true, because anyone who locked a 30 year fixed under 6% is most likely not going to refinance. They are likely however to take out a home equity loan for cash out or for debt consolidation. Al Perida, a broker from Bridge Capital, said, “People continue to run up credit card bills, and consolidating their debt with a second mortgage will save them thousands of dollars in interest.” Perida continued, “tax deductions and lower payments are 2 reasons people will continue to take out loans in 2006.” The market is trending away from refinancing first mortgages, and moving towards a home equity loan market. Homeowners will be refinancing this year, only they will be refinancing their adjustable rate second mortgages, rather than their conventional mortgage in first position. If you purchase a home recently with an 80-20 combination, you may want to consider refinancing the adjustable rate credit. The rate is variable and refinancing with a fixed rate equity loan will save you money. Dan Ambrose is a true mortgage authority who has been in the business for nearly 15 years. Passover Gifts - Now This One Meaning You Don’t Want To Miss

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

By Dale Pindling What is the purpose of the the Matzah Cover and Matzah Plate? To understand the purpose of the Matzah Cover an Matzah plate, one must first think consider the meaning of Matzah.Matzah is the only type of bread which Jews can eat during Passover and it is made from Flour and water. On the night that the Pharaoh let the children of Israel go , the children of Isreal had no time to bake their bread. They had to get out of Egypt as fast as they could before the pharaoh changed his mind, so they could not bake their bread. If you know anything about bread then you know the result of not baking your bread, the yeast in the bread does not get an opportunity to rise. So here you have the Children of Israel fleeing Egypt in the broiling sun with the bread that has not risen If you know anything about the broiling sun when it makes extended contact with bread then you would know that the bread slowly turned into flat unleavened bread. And as the Children of Israel had no other food they ate this flat unleavened bread. Now fast forward many generations and all Jews celebrating Passover eat this Matzah. The Jews eat this Matzah in memory of all of those who ate the Matzah on their way out of Egypt thousands of years ago. Called the bread of affiliationMatzah is eaten during the Seder feast. 3 portions of Matzah placed are placed on Matzah plate which is then placed next to the seder plate. The three Matzahs are in specifically in place to remember the Isrealite, Levite and Kohanim tribe of Jews from the past. Our Matzah cover then comes into use in covering the Matzah while it is not in use. A cloth is placed over the Matzah plate and matzah and then the required Matzah cover is placed on top. At a point in the meal, the seder leader takes and hides one portion of Matzah for the children to find in a sort of game. The Matzah is then eaten a few more times, by itself and/or mixed with other foods during specific sections of the seder feast. *The Matzah cover has threes opening which can also be called pockets. Each pocket is used for one of the three Matzah used in the Passover feast. Sim Free Mobile Phones vs Pay as You Go Mobile Phones- Make a Wise Decision

Friday, February 15th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Amanda_Dorthy]Amanda Dorthy What’s the reason behind the increasing popularity of mobile phones? Slash in mobile costs and easy availability are two clear reasons-aren’t they? In the last decade, mobile phones’ use has got a phenomenal growth and the number is still counting rapidly. Different mobile manufacturing companies have entered in to the market with an eye to eat a share in the profitable mobile market. Even several electronics companies have shifted their focus towards manufacturing mobile phones in different shapes and sizes. The advent of the Internet has helped us enormously to get the handset of our choice with a few clicks. By logging onto an online mobile phone shop’s site we can even get information about upcoming products much before their launch. The journey has been made simpler with the availability of standard mobile options online-be it sim free mobile phones or pay-as-you-go mobile phones. Now, your freedom of choice will do a deciding factor in saving those extra pounds. Sim free mobile phones are those phones which don’t come with any network connection. Unlike contract mobile phone deals, you can buy your preferred handset and then insert a sim of a particular network and get connected easily. Advantages are many. First and foremost, if you are a frequent flier to different countries, you can get a new sim and enjoy talking from anywhere. Secondly, there is no contract-you are the king of your network selection. Last but not the least, if you are not satisfied with the services of a particular network, you can easily switch over to another network. Now, come to the pay-as-you-go mobile phones. Pay-as-you-go mobile phones are also a cost effective mobile plan where you buy minutes and get good value on your talktime. If needed, you can top up your credit. If you want to use your phone for a relatively small amount of time, then, there can nothing be better than the pay-as-you-go mobile phones. Be it sim free mobile phones or pay-as-you-go mobile phones the verdict remains the same-both have been customized to give you the best in mobile telephony.
